Taste of Shivaya Third Club Selection

Wow, we are into our June selection already!

This month we have some very vibrant superwash sock yarn to feature. We have had some issues with the ways that colors are coming up on monitors, so I want you all to know that these are vibrant bold colors.

We have sunburst, which is a beautiful combination of yellow and oranges that just screams bright, sunny summer day.

Kara was based on the colors that only Springtime can bring; vibrant greens, roses and orange.

Nature is a combo of turquoise, orange and a deep green. We called it nature because it encompasses the colors of the grass, the oceans and sun.

We are so excited for the amazing sock pattern that is on it's way, and for all of you to experience our superwash sock yarn.

As a side note, this blog will be moving to a new hosting in the coming days as we transfer from Blogger to wordpress. I think that you will enjoy the format of the new blog much more.

We will be holding a very large contest for the first three people who complete this month's club selection. As soon as I have the pattern details from Kirsten, I will let you know what needle size to have ready to go.

Coming along but slowly

I am doing the shawl version as well. I added two middle panels. I'm not as far along as I'd like to be but I love the yarn and am enjoying the pattern.

Not doing very well

Here is how far I've gotten. Not doing so well. I've ripped it back and restarted 3 times now. This is the most complicated pattern I've done yet. I think I'm getting it down but I find I'm losing track of where I am. Any suggestions?

Knit Along Prize #1

So, I have not been good with getting my pics and thoughts up about this current club project from Anne. Having said that, I LOVE it!! I did decide to do the stole, and it took me a bit to decide how much I wanted widen it by, but I think that it will work with the skein I have.

So, to get the knit along started, we have our first prize to get you going. A skein of choice from our store is up for grabs, all that you have to do is leave a post with a picture of how your scarf/stole is coming along, and we will draw the first winner this coming Saturday.

Our knit along beings tomorrow, April 6th both here and on Ravelry. We will have a few wonderful prizes, and I look forward to seeing how everyone's projects turn out. I am casting on for a stole instead of a scarf, so I will try and keep up with everyone :)

Taste of Shivaya Second Club Selection

Hi Everyone!

Happy Spring to all of you. Today seems like the perfect day to post our color choices for our second Taste of Shivaya club selection. As many of you know, Anne Hanson has designed a beautiful spring lace scarf for this shipment, and we are really excited to bring three beautiful color choices to all of you.

1. Ocean ~ A stunning turquoise blue that Anne herself to create the pattern
2. Lime: speaks for itself. A great soft lime green color that will certainly enhance any spring outfit
3. Sunset: For those that want a variegated look, we have sunset. A blend of orange and reds, that is kettle dyed to ensure that there is no patterened effect.





Each skein will contain 1000 yards. Anne's pattern only calls for 400 yards, so you will plenty left over to create a second scarf, or an entirely new project.

Please note, we only dye about 4-5 skeins per dye lot, so if you do think that you will want more yarn for another project, please place your order ASAP by emailing us at info@shivayanaturals.com to ensure exact color matches.

All color choices need to be received by this Tuesday, March 24th. We will send out email reminders on Monday morning.

Second Club Package Colors

Hi Everyone!

Just a bit of club news

We will be posting pics on our two new colors this Saturday, March 21st. We need to have everyon's color selections in by Monday, March 23rd. We will send out invoices on the 24th, and those need to be received by the 27th.

Anne's has finished her and blocked her piece for the club, and it can be found on her website, www.knitspot.com

I am so excited for this next selection. The yarn is one of my true favorites, and Anne's pattern looks spectacular.

Everyone's cowls have looked amazing, and I really hope that you have all enjoyed knitting it up.

We will be sending out our first full newsletter tomorrow, and we will be sending out reminder emails for all of our club members on the upcoming dates.

Finished my first cowl

I finished yesterday. This was a great pattern. I really like how the finished product came out and really liked this binding off method I'll definitely use it again. I do have one question any recommendations on what I should (or should not) wash my cowl in?

Tasty knitting

I finished my cowl last weekend. I really enjoyed the pattern stitch--interesting enough but not brain-freezing. I had not worked with a yarn that has so much lanolin in it, so I found that an interesting experience. I soaked the finished cowl in Eucalan and then blocked it. That softens it up a lot. I'll be shipping it off to my mom. All in all, I'd call it a tasty little knit!

Blocking

I gave my project a bath in my brand new grapefruit scented Eucalan (yum!) and looked around for something to block it on. As I was looking, the bowl in which my husband collects wine corks caught my eye. This bowl (or whatever it is...I've never really been sure since I found it at an antique store) was just the ticket. So, here are some photos of my cowl drying:

Finished

I'm not big on anything snug around my neck due to a thyroid thing, so I used the yarn to make a modified Victorian Shoulderette. Didn't have enough yarn to complete the border as written, so I switched to a 4-stitch sideways edging. It's been washed and is now drying. I have to admit that I had a bad time with the amount of lanolin in the yarn. I frogged, reskeined and washed it once in Eucalan, and almost did it a second time. This time, I used shampoo to really (hopefully) get it grease free.

FINIS!

Well, I finished my lovely project last night. As I was admiring it and stretching out those lovely dropped stitches - POINK! - a stitch that was NOT supposed to be dropped popped and started running down the knitting. All I could say was ARGHH!! It took me about an hour, but I think I figured out what I did wrong (I'm certainly no expert knitter). SO, today it will get it's soak and blocking and hopefully I will have photos to post within a few days!

Received my package last Thursday....the yarn is lovely as are the pattern and markers. Looking forward to getting to work on it!

Winding

I received my package last week, too. Finally sat down on Sunday and wound it into a ball. I always wind by hand--no swift or anything. The yarn has a really nice feel to it. Hope to cast on for the cowl later this week. Then send it to my mom for a surprise. I also bought some prime merino lace and now have a big problem: which project from Knitted Lace from Estonia do I make???

Boo Hoo, no yarn for me!!

Still no yarn for me, and none expected today with the Holiday. I sure hope it arrives soon. I am enjoying all of the photos, so keep them coming!!!

Allegra's Pattern

I'm really enjoying this pattern. It is nice, simple and fun! I just love dropping stitches on purpose....there is something about it that makes me feel free - almost rebellious - as I knock that little stitch off the needle and watch that yarn unravel. Mwahaha!! ;-)

Awesome yarn...

My first Taste arrived yesterday and I can't wait to cast on. The colors of the yarn are beautiful and I love the pattern and stitch markers!!

VERY lovely!

My package arrived yesterday - much to my delight! I'm hoping to cast on today. I will probably add extra stitches in order to make mine looser...even though it might end up being a gift for my mother-in-law. The stitch markers are quite lovely too!!
